Oversees the daily operations of the entire transportation department by defining objectives through planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining services that support the organization mission.
Directs department operations (e.g. system development/maintenance, business plans, budgeting, safety programs, site inspections, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of providing services to residents/clients/customers within established time frames and which supports the mission of the
organization. Prepares, recommends and administers the annual Transportation budget. Collaborates with internal and external sources (e.g. other administrators, public agencies, clients, transportation regulation agencies, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of promoting, implementing and/or maintaining services and programs.
Facilitates and/or participates in meetings and workshops, etc. for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations and supporting other staff. Evaluates all aspects of the Transportation Department to ensure the transportation activities are completed
efficiently and within regulatory requirements. Motivate, manage and lead employees by collaborating with the Transportation Manager to ensure adequate staffing is maintained, enhancing productivity of staff and achieving department objectives within budget. Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions related to the Transportation Department services for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the goals and objectives. Researches new equipment/vehicles, laws, regulations, etc. for the purpose of recommending purchases, contracts and proper maintenance of all services. Maintains thorough and accurate knowledge of funder requirements, state and federal laws and regulations and procedures for the operation of the Transportation Department. Uses skill and experience to comprehensively and timely plan and schedule the development of new and improvement project
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or the equivalent experience.
Experience: Five or more years of transportation management experience, preferably in the transportation of people, with three years experience in a supervisory role. Must have good communication, comprehension, computer and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
